I am a Computer Science major at Foothill College carrying a 4.0 GPA, currently navigating the transfer process myself. I built AICounselor because I know firsthand how confusing, overwhelming, and stressful it can be to figure out which courses transfer, which requirements to complete, and how to put together a competitive application.

My mission is simple: demystify the college transfer experience for every California community college student. No one should feel lost in the process just because they could not get a counseling appointment or did not know the right questions to ask.

Why I Built AICounselor

Transferring from a community college should be an exciting step forward -- not a bureaucratic maze. Here is what drives this project.

Built from experience

AICounselor was born from firsthand frustration. Navigating ASSIST.org, figuring out IGETC, understanding TAG eligibility -- it should not be this hard. I built the tool I wish I had on day one.

Demystifying the process

The transfer process is full of jargon, hidden deadlines, and scattered information. AICounselor brings everything together in one place and uses AI to answer the questions counselors don't always have time for.

Real data, real answers

Every piece of articulation data comes straight from ASSIST.org. No guessing, no outdated PDFs. AICounselor combines this official data with AI to give you clear, actionable guidance.

The Story

When I first enrolled at Foothill College, I had one clear goal: transfer to a top UC for Computer Science. What I did not expect was how overwhelming the process would be. ASSIST.org has all the data you need, but making sense of articulation agreements, figuring out which GE pattern to follow, understanding how TAG works for different campuses -- it felt like a full-time job on top of my actual coursework.

I spent hours cross-referencing requirements, sitting in long lines for 15-minute counseling appointments, and still feeling unsure if I was on the right track. I would hear classmates who had missed deadlines or taken the wrong courses simply because the information was hard to find or confusing to interpret.

That is when the idea for AICounselor clicked. As a CS major, I realized I could build something that takes the official ASSIST.org data, structures it, and layers AI on top to answer student questions in plain language -- instantly, any time of day. No appointment needed.

AICounselor is the tool I wish existed when I started my transfer journey. If it helps even one student avoid a wrong course or missed deadline, it is worth every late night of coding.
